My First Game Jam Experience!

Hey everyone! In my previous blog post, I mentioned that I had joined my first ever game jam with an ol’ buddy of mine! I figured that instead of a written blog post about my first game jam experience, I’ll do a vlog instead! Here it is (I recommend watching in HD and fullscreen if possible):

After participating in this jam and using all the artistic knowledge and skills I have gained in the past year (since I started writing this blog), I now have a better understanding of where my strengths and weaknesses lie in 3D modelling and animation in Blender – and how that translates to other areas/fields such as game development. You see, this game jam had pressured me to churn out work rather quickly in order to meet a strict deadline and also forced me to come up with a compromise between quality and quantity of the game assets themselves. And while it was a bit stressful at times, it was also rather satisfying and a lot of fun!

No doubt, I may yet participate in another game jam before the end of this year! We shall see…

JamCraft 2019 (My First Game Jam)!

Hey everyone! It’s been quite busy for me the last two weeks so I haven’t had much time to work on my Unity game. Tomorrow, however, I will be participating in my first game jam, JamCraft 2019, along with my good gaming and programmer pal, Casiodorus (Cas for short)!

When Cas had mentioned about JamCraft to me some time ago, I’ve been pretty stoked around the idea of teaming up and collaborating with him in creating a game that involves the concept of crafting – especially since we’re both relatively new to game development. The jam is held for two weeks (12 days to be exact) so not only will there be plenty for the both of us to learn in our respective roles (myself for the art and visuals and Cas for coding/programming), but I am sure it will be a lot of fun for the both of us as well!

As of this moment, the jam starts in under 24 hours on June 10th at 7:00 p.m. EST and ends on June 22nd at 7:00 pm EST. As soon as the jam begins, an optional theme will be revealed and participants may only begin working on their game starting then.

After planning and scoping out today some of the details of the game we’re looking to make for this game jam, we eagerly await the start of the jam tomorrow…
